This is the sixth webinar in the series, in the lecture Kay Caball explores in wonderful detail many aspects of the dramatic lives of the Fitzmaurice dynasty of North Kerry. Kay has recently published a book of the same name entitled ‘The Fall of the Fitzmaurices’. Both the webinar and the book retell the colourful story of the Fitzmaurice family, who had been powerful Lords of Kerry, since the year 1235.

Nevertheless, by 1818 after over five hundred years as Kerry’s premier family, through a combination of extravagance, irresponsibility, and reckless living, their titles and estates were no more. This is a potent story of power, wealth, land, money, and sex among the Irish aristocracy in the 18th century’.  Overall, the webinar revives this unique story in an engaging, informative and fascinating manner.
